These books have never been opened- binding is in PERFECT condition!! The chest is made of very flimsy cardboard and has 2 very small tears that in NO WAY affect it's ability to open and close. (This is why I put the listing as "like new"). The tears are on the back of the chest, are hardly visible and blend in with the overall "antique" look of the paint.
