This is a new M1 "steel pot" helmet, made in Europe for NATO and other countries using the M1. The steel pot is identical to the US made helmet used by GI's in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. The cover is virtually identical to the "woodland" or ERDL pattern used after Vietnam. It comes with the "cat eyes" helmet band and leather sweat band. Technically the steel pot is a "swivel bale, rear seam". The liner is OG plastic (not fiberglas) with WWII style webbing. The chinstraps on the steel pot are the Vietnam era type (not like later nylon/cotton type with hammock type chin strap). The liner also comes with a chinstrap like the WWII types except the strap is cotton webbing, not leather. A leather repro chinstrap can be substituted for that authentic WWII look. Used "Mitchell" style (Vietnam) comouflage covers are readily available and cheap on ebay as are repro USMC WWII camo covers and nets. The helmet can easily be made to look like those of any of the three wars mentioned. Ideal for the re-enactor or for display at a fraction of the cost of an original. Allow two weeks additional for personal checks.
