This auction is for a model replica of the Shanghai Maglev (magnetic levitation) train. The train is an absolutely stunning piece of engineering by Siemens, and runs between Pudong (eastern Shanghai) and the airport. It has a top speed of just over 430km/hour, and the people of Shanghai are justifiably very proud of it. This is a top-quality, very accurate model replica of the train. *It does NOT run - it is designed purely for display*. The set includes the special mag lev track (again, the model does NOT levitate above the track like the real train). The model comprises two engines (one at each end, obviously) and a carriage. Each is about 15 cm (just under 6 inches) long, for a total of about 45 cm. The track is slightly longer than this. The train and track are made of high-quality plastic - it is not a toy and it wasn't cheap when I bought it. It is an official model produced by the company that runs the train, and is only available at the train terminal. It would make an absolutely fantastic Christmas present for a train/railroad nut!This set is brand new and comes in its original gift box with protective foam padding. I have not assembled it, and have only opened the box to photograph the components.
