BRANDBERG QUARTZ CRYSTAL~SMOKEY/AMETHYST ENHYDRO This is a beautiful quartz crystal from near the Brandberg, Namibia, Africa. Brandberg translates in the language of Afrikaans to 'fire mountain'. The mountain is a protected reserve, and the mining takes place in the foothills. This is known as the Gobobbos area. These precious crystals are harvested by hand by local people in extreme desert conditions from hard basalt matrix. Crystals harvested are known as Brandberg quartz crystals. Brandberg quartz crystals are some of the brightest and most expressive crystals known to us. Along with brightness and clarity all their own, they often have ribbons, phantoms and wisps of smokey and amethyst as well as frequent enhydro (water) inclusions. They positively sparkle with vibrant intelligence. This crystal measures 1.75 x .75 x .50 inches. It has both smokey and amethyst ribbons and phantoms, as well as a few black specks of hematite. T are internal chambers and light catching foils that amplify the brightness of the crystal. This is also an enhydro crystal (containing water or fluid). Enhydro crystals are usually recognized by a clear moving gas bubble within a fluid chamber. I have spotted at least 2 with good mobility.
