This is a delightful Brandenburg shaving mug. Americans started using shaving mugs shortly after the Civil War and continued using them through the 1920s. Originally from Staffordshire, England, France, Germany, and Austria, decorated shaving mugs were rarely used until the late 1800s. German gold embossed and decorated moustache cup dating to the 1890's. The cup has a beautiful mold design. The main feature is the cameo of horses on the front of the cup and the ornate handle. The elegant cup has a very heavily sculpted mold and is hand painted and decorated with florals in rose and white. The rose paint extends to the ornate handle. The cup is 3 1/2" tall and 3 3/4" across. The cup is in excellent condition. It is unmarked but is numbered 1203. This is a beautiful cup that would be a delightful addition to any collection. We accept Paypal, Money orders and Personal Checks (with time to clear). Buyer to pay shipping of $10.00 and insurance costs. The insurance amount will be calculated at the end of auction. We ship Priority Mail and shipping charges are not negotiable. Shipping will occur on Tuesday or Friday of the of the Week. All items which payments have been received prior to that time will be shipped.
