BRASS BRONZE PERSIAN MAN STATUE MATCH STRIKER CIGARETTE HOLDER This unusual piece measures 7 1/2" tall to the top of the man's hat, 6" from side to side and 4 1/2" from front to back. The piece is either brass or bronze that has been polished. If you look at the shadowed surfaces and on the bottom it looks like it might have had some kind of brown or bronze paint on it at one time. It is actually 3 separate pieces which bolt together. The man bolts to the planter under his left hand and t is also another nut which goes into the side of his left leg through the side of the planter. T is a slight bow in the one of 6 panels of the planter which is bolted to the mans leg. The designs look very art nouveau on the planter and match holder and at the same time look Turkish or Morroccian. The rug or carpet piece which holds the pipe bolts into the planter foot from the front of the draping fabric piece. The man is wearing a fez type hat and a robe type garment with a belt.
The center of gravity of this piece is so heavy that the only the two hidden legs of the planter actually touch the ground. The two most outside legs of the planter look like they might have tried to be straightened at one time because they are a little out of shape compared to the other 4 legs. The piece which holds matches has 6 sides and 6 panels, three sides have a scroll type design and three are serated for striking a match. Nothing missing , nothing broken off or repaired.
