All Brass HO Scale Union Pacific Railroad (UP) 8,500HP 3-Unit Turbine #7 Model from Overland Models, Inc. (OMI) . An extremely nice HO scale brass model of Union Pacific's famous 3-unit 8,500 horsepower gas turbine electric locomotive #7 with the raised Farr inlet silencer plus the long smooth sided tender . The prototype (real life locomotive) was built by General Electric (GE) exclusively for UP. A total of only 30 of these giants were built from 1958 through 1961. Many considered them to be the most powerful locomotives ever operated. This 3-unit turbine model was manufactured by the master craftsmen of Ajin Precision in Korea and imported by Overland Models as catalog #5762 in the early 1990's. With all brass construction and quality workmanship it has the detailing and exquisite craftsmanship that are second to none. Undoubtedly the best 3-unit turbine ever made in HO scale brass, a must have addition for the UP collector and modeler. The model has been beautifully custom painted by one of OMI's own professional painters in the U.S. in the famous UP yellow and gray paint scheme and fully detailed. In addition, the A-unit has cab window glazing and cab interior along with operating constant intensity headlight. The B-unit comes with basic turbine interior. The A-unit is equipped with TWO high quality can motors and flywheels with all wheels powered. The B-unit has one motor with dual flywheels with all wheels powered. The model has been fully tuned to run very smooth and quiet. In absolute mint condition and comes with original box and foam which are also in very good condition.
