comes a truly atmospheric OIL on wood ICON with a finely chased & embossed brass MOUNTING. This religious artwork shows the portrayals of the Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus. The icon is of RUSSIAN origin and dates back to the 19th century or possibly even earlier. SPECIFICATIONS:

MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUE: Fine hand painting. Embossing, reticulation & chase work.
CONDITION: ORIGINAL as found condition with extensive traces of age, chipping, crazing, abrasions, minor material loss, dents and scratches. NO RESTORATION! This alluring Russian icon shows the depiction of the Virgin Mary with the Jesus child. The brass mounting is executed in fine embossing and chase work and additionally we find a partially reticulated onset forming the halo of Mary & the sacred child.
