P NJ Custom Brass Long Island Railroad Class G-53sd 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler Prototype Info This is a model of a Brooks-Built Long Island Class G-53sd 4-6-0 Ten-wheeler. This small class of 4-6-0s was built around 1910 and was not a Camel Back style locomotive as was the standard for the LIRR at the time. Even a later class G-54 was a camelback. This class of engine held down the LIRR's commuter passenger business until the coming of the Pennsy G5s. With the coming of the larger G-5s the G-53sd class was relegated to light branch work. The class was in service until 1949 when more Pennsy engines started showing up on the LIRR. Model Info: Built in the early 1970s by KMT (Kumata) of Japan for NJ Custom Brass. It was the first of their steam engines ergo catalog number ST-200. Features: Robust Brass Construction Well Detailed Excellent operation Model Condition: This model is in excellent condition. I checked and lubed it. It runs perfectly. It looks as if she was never used. Shows tarnish on one side from the foam deterioration typical of KMT Foam. CHeck photos carefully , this tarnish is not that bad. There is the original box but without the foam. Also has brass name plaque.
