I am so pleased to offer this item for your consideration. This is a beautiful semi nude head planter vase made by Brayton Laguna Pottery that I believe dates back to the 1920-1930's era. I purchased this item at an estate sale near my home along with several other head vases that have already been listed and sold. This piece was so unique I have held onto her for awhile just enjoying her in my home. From what I have learned Brayton Laguna a California pottery maker was founded in the 1920's and existed up into the 1960's. The founder died in the 1950's however the company did continue a short time after his death. I believe in the late 1930's the company was expanded and the marks on the bottom changed from the one that is on the bottom of this piece. This piece is hand signed as shown in pic 11 which dates her prior to the expansion. She is really exquisite and I believe in excellent condition for her age. She does have gentle overall crazing nothing that jumps out at you but consistent with age. She also has some light age discoloration on her chest and around her breasts again nothing distracting but I do like to mention anything I see. The inside of the planter is dirty but I don't see any water stains or discolorations. It looks like the green florists putty was used inside the planter. I am sure this could be removed but I am leaving any cleaning up to the potential buyer. She has no chips or cracks that I see. The only real thing I see to mention is some light wear to her hair. T is some gold coloring as well but I do believe it is original to the piece. I have provided plenty of pics so please decide for yourself. This is a nice large piece measuring 7" high, 6" wide, and 6" long. Although technically this is not a head vase but a head planter she would still make a beautiful and unusual addition to any head vase collection. If you collect old pottery or are just a lover of the female form this item would also make a perfect addition and stand out one as well. I guarentee her to be old and original not a reproduction. I really like this item myself and because of that and also to protect my investment t is a reserve on this auction. I do not like reserves but sometimes they are a necessary evil. Any questions please write but do not ask the reserve price. I prefer not to disclose my reserve so bid what you think she is worth or more importantly what she is worth to you personally. Shipping will be flat rate of 10.00 dollars anyw in the lower 48 states and insurance will be required. All others please write for an estimate. Happy bidding and thanks for viewing my auction. Please take a look at my other items while you are I try and list a variety of items each week and I do combine on shipping w possible to save you money.
