For sale this week is a very rare uniform from Brazil: a uniform worn by combat divers of the Brazilian Navy (Marinha) - the Brazilian equivalent to the more widely known Navy SEALs, otherwise known as Grupamento de Mergulhadores de Combate or GRUMEC. The uniform itself is the same as that used by the Brazilian Marines, developed from the Portuguese vertical lizard stripe which itself is derived from the famous French pattern. The pattern consists of green and broad brown stripes on a light green background, and was used from the 1980s until present. Extremely rare find since the combat divers are a small unit and collecting camouflage is regulated in Brazil. The shirt has a BDU-style design with two breast pockets and two waist pockets and is made from a medium-weight poly-cotton fabric. The shirt and all of the pockets are buttoned. It has Velcro collar rank insignia, a name tape, one unit patch on the shoulder and one over the left pocket. All patches are original to the shirt. The condition is like new and all buttons are present. The paper tag has been removed, probably because it was too abrasive. The trousers have two slash pockets, two large buttoned cargo pockets on the thighs and two rear pockets on the seat. The condition is like new with no fading wear or damage. All buttons are present and so is the production label. read more
