We have a large number of vintage and antique clocks currentlylisted along with an equally large number of music boxes and other very nice collectibles. Be sure to have a look at our other items ! This is an outstanding find of a spectacular, working, very rare, wood, 8 day Westminster Chime wall clock with the most wonderful chimes I've ever heard from a wall clock. Frankly, were it not for the cause listed below, this clock would remain in our home; no doubt about it. The clock is made entirely of wood and is probably only about 35 years old. It was created in Germany and looks to be made like one of the larger grandfather clocks though it's designed for the wall. This is a magnificent large clock that is typically referred to as a wag-on-the-wall specie of clock. It has a beautiful scroll look on the lower half and the top features a nice swept design. The upper frame has a classic look to it and a stunning applique mounted to the top. The dial is equally impressive and features appliques on either side of a "Tempus Fugit" (time flies) world applique with matching appliques in each corner of the metal dial. The clock dial has a fancy center and each large, easy to read, raised brasstone hour mark is surrounded with a fancy design; very nice! There are very fancy matching hands to point out the time. The word, "Dacor" is featured on the dial. There are three sets of metal chains suspended from the clock case with three long tubular brass weights on the ends. The clock also has a large wooden pendulum with a brasstone metal bob and fancy design there as well. The back of the clock is wooden too. The clock is equipped with a "German," weight driven movement that is the same used on Grandfather clocks. A weight driven movement simply means that the clock chains need to be pulled every 8 days or so to wind the clock, hourly strike, and chiming activity. This clock plays music too and like I said earlier, unlike any I've ever heard! At the quarter hour mark, the clock plays a beautiful, four-note melody on golden metal chime bars inside the case; eight notes at the half hour mark, twelve at the 3/4 hour mark, and the full sixteen note melody at the top of each hour. The clock will then chime the current number of hours at the top of each hour, just like Big Ben in London! This is a magnificent clock to be sure and one of the largest wall clocks I've ever seen measuring about 42" high, about 8" deep, and about 12" at its widest point. The clock works quite well here, keeps good time, and the chimes are heavenly though keep in mind, this is an old clock and some adjustments or service may be necessary once the clock arrives at its new home. We always advise our clock customers to service their antique or vintage clocks at least once every three years. Doing so will keep a classic timepiece like this one, healthy for years to come. The clock comes complete as shown with three sets of attached metal chains, a wooden pendulum with large brasstone metal bob, and three very heavy tubular shaped metal weights. I've looked the clock over fairly well and can't find any damage. I did find a few scratches on the body and a nick here and there but nothing detracting...nothing could. It's in very nice shape! This clock is simply breathtaking and will certainly impress anyone seeing or hearing it in your home, office, or wherever it is that you care to showcase a magnificent musical chiming timepiece from the mother country. ; it is truly a gorgeous clock and I know you'll love it!
