"A Northern Cheyenne Indian war Pony; before a raid on an enemy camp. It's going to be a ride of at least '2 sleeps' (3 days) so this mount is equipped with a grass-stuffed hide pad saddle; which was made by a woman in the warrior's camp. T's a blanket and wolf pelt (with tail) for the warrior's riding and later, sleeping comfort. Days are getting colder so a hide haunch drape was made to keep those back muscles warm." This Traditional size Breyer model has been re-done in the following ways to capture the spirit of a Plains Indian War Pony: Logo removed, Ears and 2 Hooves carved along with a resculpting of the mane which has two simulated, Bald Eagle feathers braided in. The Tail has been re-modeled in the tied fashion a warrior used to keep an enemy from being able to easily grab the tail in the hopes of throwing the pony off-balance. The grass-stuffed hide pad saddle is handmade in an authentic Plains style of the mid 1800's. The haunch drape is decorated with 'pony beads' lane-stitched along one edge. The blanket and attached, simulated, 'wolf' pelt are easily removed to reveal the pad saddle beneath. The combination war bridle/mecate are hand plaited artificial sinew and looped around the jaw.
