Barbaro, winner of the 2006 Kentucky Derby, is faithfully reproduced in this fine traditional series portrait model by Breyer Animal Creations. Barbaro has moved on, but what better way to pay tribute to his memory than through this beautiful scale model.

Included with Barbaro is a certificate of authenticity with reproduced signatures by Edgar Prado, Barbaro's jockey, Michael R. Matz, Barbaro's Trainer, Dr. Dean W. Richardson, Barbaro's Surgeon at the New Bolton Center, and Anthony Fleischmann, President of Breyer Animal Creations.

Fleischmann was overwhelmed by the outpouring of emotion for Barbaro following his injury in the Preakness Stakes, saying ""After the Preakness, we were inundated with mail asking us to make a model of Barbaro and I realized Breyer could both honor a great champion and do some good on behalf of Barbaro for all the thousands of horses who rely on New Bolton when they are hurt."

As a result, $10 from the purchase of this and every Barbaro model sold went to the New Bolton Center at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. On December 10th, 2006, Breyer presented the New Bolton Center with a check for $114,710.

The photographs of the certificate of authenticity and of the marking on Barbaro's abdomen were taken of our own model, to better illustrate what is in the package. Rest assured that the model up for auction has never been removed from the box. The box is in perfect shape, and the model inside is beautiful. We hope you enjoy him.
