Bride & Groom "Our Day" Austin Sculpture 1991, Alexsander Danel, Artist This striking Art Deco style sculpture of newlyweds reflects timeless romance which lives through the years. Flowing contours of soft champagne gold are accented with contrasting silver highlights. The statue measures 20 1/2" in height. The irregular shaped base measures 8 1/4" by 9 1/2" . The statue weighs 13 lbs. 3 oz . There are a couple of superficial, small nicks on the back of the base. See photos. The artist, Alexsander Danel, was born in Estonia in 1940. He graduated from the Moscow Industrial Arts School and the Moscow Fine Arts Academy. He earned awards for his work in the former Soviet Union and later worked with distinction in Italy and the U.S. He was the principal sculptor for Austin Production Inc. from 1981 until 2001. Danel died in 2001. The sculpture is marked "Danel Austin sculpture 1991". Austin Sculpture used a process which included Durastone, a slurry of crushed rock in the molding process. Steel rods were used to reinforce the sculpture. The finished product received a finish and polish to complete the work giving the sculpture a rich appearance.
