You're bidding on an extraordinarily colorful and detailed example of a Nippon Moriage vase produced by the Morimura Brothers, precursors to Noritake. It is 10 1/4 inches tall, 3 inches wide at the top and 3 1/4 inches at the bottom, with roses centrally featured on both the front and back. The third picture is the back, which you can see is just as detailed as the front. T are no scratches or cracks, and the colors quite vibrant for a century-old object. This vase was proudly displayed in the living room of my family's home for 80 years. From even minimal handling over such a long time, it's not surprising that some of the gold is worn from the handles and the base, as is the moriage surrounding the base. Otherwise, t's almost countless moriage beads in a variety of colors, plus other small raised areas on the vase, mostly in the gold areas over the red. I acquired this from my mother's estate in the 1990's, packed it in pillows for a dozen years, and am now gradually emptying my home after retirement. A good time to find an appreciative collector. If the last picture isn't sufficiently clear, the base is marked with a green maple leaf, with Nippon under it, and the words "Hand Painted" to the right.
