For the past year, I have been collecting kimonos, obis, and all the paraphanalia it takes to dress in one properly, in the hopes of putting together a kimono workshop at some point. In the process, I sometimes find I cannot use an item I have purchased, and am now presenting some of the items back on Ebay, which is w I have done most of my buisness. I will be offering the items as buy-it-now for the most part, simply to recoup cost and re-invest until I have exactly what I need. In some cases I may show an item accessorized with other items for sale to show you how I put them together, but all items will be sold separately. This obis has a much thinner hand than many, so it is easy to work with. I is a fukuro obi, which means it is one width from end to end, but has an area in the middle that is not patterned as it doesn't show, and it is more economical to use a cheaper fabric. The patterned side is a base of gold lame, with areas of grass green which are a softer weave. The roses have a rougher metalic silver thread and many areas are outlined with metalic floss which is applied with an orange thread. The reverse side is a soft orange sateen. This obi goes with a lot of kimonos.I am not keeping it because it is not quite the style that I am trying to put together in my collection as it is rather new, and very modern looking. This would be ideal for someone wanting to put together a costume (Geisha, for instance) for Halloween, or Anime parties, because it is not so costly that you would have to worry about damaging it.Because of its colors, it would be very beautiful as Christmas accent at a window, or used as a table runner. Because this is not a particulary fine obi, as far as material and craftsmanship, it could also be cut up and used for projects without that sense of guilt we sometimes feel when we dismantle these gems.12-1/4" wide by 168-1/2" long....the undecorated portion of the front side is 51" I have shown it with a kimono that is listed separately.
