Brillie domestic slave mantle clock, not the commoner wall clock variety, a good item for anyone's electric clock collection. In good original condition, has not been messed around with or "restored" badly. 300mm high x 185mm across the widest part and 165 across the middle, 120mm front to back with 115mm slightly convex dial, brass bezel, and Electrique Brillie on dial. Dial in v g condition, few marks would come off with washing etc, not chips. Case wood I do not recognise, a light golden colour with attractive grain and black inlaid stringing, lighter than golden french mahogany, darker than pear, veneer on ply. Some slight cracking in wood, 1 down middle at front adn 1 less noticeable along inlay to left on front, looks worse in photo than in real life and easily restored, small chip centre door on back and a few superficial scrapes on the back. Knob on door has had a line cut in it, possibly to show the alignment of the brass arm that locks the door. Feet original lacquered brass and original connector block and paper label. Original cloth wound wires inside. Movement would no doubt do with a clean but pulses OK with a 1.5v battery. Obviously designed to go with a Brillie master clock but would work with many continental 30sec alternating polarity impulses or a modern quartz "slave driver" device. Glass original and perfect. read more
