British Baden Powell Boy Scout Stetson Hat, A.W. Gamage, Vintage
Found in a local estate, very nice and rare British "Baden Powell" -- extra quality boy scout STETSON HAT. In very good vintage condition. Some very slight wear due to storage and wear. Hat has not lost it's original shape, comes with original double leather buckle band around middle of hat. No stains, holes, or weird smell. We believe this to be an authentic British Boy Scout Stetson Hat due to the fact that it was from a very well known department store "Gamages" in Central London. Gamages became the official supplier of Boy Scout uniforms and accessories. This store later closed in the 1970's and has disappeared due to re-development in that area. Baden Powell was founder of the World Scout Movement and Chief Scout of the World. He is mainly pictured with a Stetson Hat very similar to the one we're auctioning. Inside of hat is marked, "Baden Powell" Extra Quality H.W. Gamages Ltd Holborn 6 7/8 (believe that to be the size)-- then what looks to be handwritten -- W.F.
