Offered is an unused real photo postcard (RPPC) from British Columbia, Canada, titled on the front "A New Made Chief and His House / West Coast Native B. C." The Chief is standing in the doorway of the house, which is painted with a wonderful eagle and whale motif. Perfect for anyone interested in ethnography, native culture, and native arts. I am not very familiar with artistic traditions of this region, but given that the card states "West Coast Native," and the photographer was from Quatsino, I think the culture could possibly be the Nootka. Dated on the front 1917, with an impressed stamp from "B. W. Leeson, Quatsino, B. C." in the lower right corner. Type: Real photograph with VELOX four diamond stampbox, divided back; dated 1917 (the last year this type of stampbox was known to be used). Printer/Publisher: B. W. Leeson Condition: Good. Corner and edge wear, soiling and toning verso, "Art Room / Free Public Library / New Haven, Conn. 06510" stamped verso. Please check out my other items for more vintage postcards!Terms: I will accept paypal payments in USD from US and international buyers and US buyers may also pay with a USPS money order.
