A very collectable WW11 1907 Enfield BAYO NET WSC ( Bayonet dated - 5(May) 43 (1943) Great Collectable. Blade marked S294 (code) WSC 5 43 . What is very desirable about this set - is the scabbard is dated and marked Cliff Walsall 1943 and the bayonet is dated 1943 also. This bayonet - the blade shows typical minor age dis-coloration and minor pitting - It would be easy to polish off, but I prefer to keep orginal condition. See pictures #8 and #9 to judged by your standards the minor dis-coloration and minor pitting. An additional plus with this Enfield Bayonet Set - the scabbard is a WWII Scabbard with the round frog retainer. This is a Great Collectable Set- from WWII. These well marked and many proofed British Bayonets are very historic and are much more interesting than simply standard world bayonets. These Bayonets made history in two World Wars and countless worldwide small incidents. I wish I knew more about the various proofs - a person could do some research and establish more of its history. British bayonet and scabbard used by England Canada and Australia in both WW1 and WW11. it was manufactured by WSC - very desirable manufacture * WWII code for Wilkinson and historic. P lease see the pictures for unique and exact markings on the blade - a historic collectable for display, re-enactment or simply an investment. The blade is 17 inches long and the overall 22 inches long - a very serious fighting instrument. This fits all British mk 111 rifles used in both wars. It will not fit the later number 4 rifles. This is a bayonet THAT IS OVER 65 YEARS OLD -and good for age and history- pictures will better show condition. In addition - it is a well marked bayonet. It goes on nicely on my mark 111 rifle. It is not an cheap India made bayonet. . It probably saw service in WW11. I say that because a collector informed me that the ( marked scabbard with the round frog attachment was for WW11 issue - see pictures ) with the model 1907 bayonet . - see pictures. If it could only talk. Great for displaying with rifle, by itself , re-enacting or simply collecting. Note pictures of markings on the bayonet - I'm sure they probably mean more to you than me. If a person needed one example of a Enfield Bayonet for display with or without a rifle - this would be it. Good examples of the 1907s are becoming very difficult to fine. This is a good one. Note: The blade has not been sharpened since leaving the Gov't Arsenal. The blade NO bends or cracks. Bayonet buttons for attaching to rifles are always checked and work fine!
