British Infantry Officers Sword Pattern 1897 GRV with scabbard (leather) Oryginal!!! This pattern is almost identical to the 1895 pattern, except for a slightly turned down part of the base of the basket hilt that is close to the body. This sword is the pattern still carried today; the change being the cypher of the reigning monarch. · The sword is overall 38,5 in long, and blade is 32 in long; · The blade is extensively etched with foliate decoration, the Royal Coat of Arms and the crowned Royal cypher of King George V (GRV) · The ricasso is marked âe~PROOFâe(tm); · The other side of blade is marked âe~ROB MOLE & SONS BIRMINGHAM MAKERS TO THE WAR & INDIA OFFICESâe(tm) ; t's also a number on the blade : M7588; · The grip is shagreen rayskin with wire binding; · Complete with the original leather knot. The leather scabbard has some scratches and top of scabbard note is broken in hanging strap, but the Sword itself is in very good condition. All imperfections are visible on pictures.
