First World War British Medal group consisting of silver British War Medal and Victory Medal both named to 4450 Pte. R. Topping. A. Cyc. Corps. Robert Topping first served in France in the Army Cyclist Corps, he later served in the 11th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment. This unit was in action with 11th, 12th and 13th Battalions Royal Sussex Regiment at Boar's Head, Richebourg. He was KILLED IN ACTION serving with the 11th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment. See /boars_head.htm a great account of the battle. It was a diversionary attack for the ATTACK on the SOMME JULY 1 1916. MEDALS NAMED TO THE ARMY CYCLIST CORPS CASUALTIES ARE RARE. COMES WITH MEDAL INDEX CARD CONFIRMING AWARD OF WW1 PAIR ONLY. Well worthy of further research. The medals are in Very Fine condition. Buyer pays shipping.
