For Sale is this Original British Antique Presentation Sword and scabbard. NOT A WEAPON. But a piece of British History. MADE IN 1865Cast brass handle with the Volunteer Rifles Insignia.As you can see from the photos the blade is beautifully engraved on both sides. On 1 side the words "Presented to Major Charles James Cox by the officers, non-commisioned officers and privates of the 7th Cinque Ports Volunteer Rifles as a slight acknowledgment of their high appreciation of his valuable services whilst in command of that corps. Margate 18th May 1865"On the other side there is a repeat of the rifle volunteers insignia, the kings crown, a horned ram with an arrow through it's neck and the motto "Laboronnia Vincit".Lots of finely engraved flowers and foliage surround the above.The scabbard is solid brass.The handle is in great condition.
