British POLICE NIGHT helmet plate-HUNTINGDONSHIRE CONST The INDIANA JONES OF EBAY does it again !!...........I have managed to purchase THREE militaria collections.....& TWO Police collections.....mainly patches, badges, insignia & headgear. One of the main collection of patches & insignia, is a real treasure trove......I showed samples from it to one dealer who wanted to buy the entire collection...but I would rather let YOU the collectors have a chance than him obtain them solely for profit. please note for clarity of item , ease of listing and your perusal of my auction items. These ALL came from an Important retired Police Officer, and were mounted at one time or another, some had their lugs/fixing pins removed.I am listing them as I recieved them , and some might merit a 'clean' for the brightness of the chrome to shine through.. or if you wish to improve on their appearance. This is a spledid discovery AND COMPLIES COMPLETELY with Ebay policies. for those that cannot read , or indeed understand this. I will try to explain .If not - Morons please do not bid. this is for COLLECTION purposes only. These are all hat badges and helmet plates. The original Cambridgeshire Constabulary was formed in 1851. In 1965, it amalgamated with Cambridge City Police (called Cambridge Borough Police until 1951), Isle of Ely Constabulary , Huntingdonshire Constabulary , and Peterborough Combined Police (created in 1947 from a merger of the Liberty of Peterborough Constabulary and the City of Peterborough Constabulary ) to form Mid-Anglia Constabulary , with the same boundaries as the current force. This force initially had an establishment of 805 and an actual strength of 728. A separate Wisbech Borough Police had already merged with the Isle of Ely Constabulary in 1889.The force was renamed Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 1974, when the new non-metropolitan county of Cambridgeshire was created by the Local Government Act 1972 with identical boundaries to the Mid-Anglia Constabulary area.Proposals made by the then Home Secretary , Charles Clarke , in March 2006 would have seen the force merge with neighbouring Norfolk Constabulary and Suffolk Constabulary to form a strategic police force for East Anglia . While Norfolk supported the proposal; Suffolk indicated it would have preferred a merger with Norfolk and Essex Constabulary , although wanted to explore the viability of options other than merger; and Cambridgeshire expressed a preference to stand alone On July 10, 1964, the Home Secretary, Henry Brooke , announced he would be using his powers under the Act to amalgamate the county borough forces of Luton and Northampton with the county forces of Bedfordshire and Northamponshire respectively. Luton's force had only been formed on April 1, when it became a county borough, but Mr Brooke said he did not regard the ...
