Archaic / Archaizing Diana - Artemis from Pompeii or Herculaneum, now in Museo Nazionale at Naples
The original is of marble, and was carved in the Augustan era (31 BC-AD 14), in the School of Prasiteles, when the fashion was to recreate the calm majesty of Late Archaic or Early Classical style of ca. 500-475 BCE Athens in Attica; one can also call this the "Atticizing" style of Roman Early Imperial Art. Made as a souvenir for travelers on the "Grand Tour" of Italy and Europe, circa 1900. A wonderful vintage "Roman Antiquity" that is both beautiful and affordable! A wonderful, small and rare bronze of an unusual subject. Note: the pictures with the black background are a bit overexposed; for the color of the statue, see the ones with the light background. I have included a photo of the original statue upon which the bronze is modeled. Size: 9" high x 3" wide by 4" deep. Weight: 2 lbs (packed: 4 lbs). The Fine Print Returns for full refunds are accepted only in cases of substantial mis-description, in which case your postage each way will also be refunded. Shipping: Shipping rates may be calculated for U.S.A. buyers using the calculator in the lower right corner of this page. Rates for international/overseas customers will be determined upon completion of sale (but only on items w international shipping is offered). FINALLY: Please bid ONLY if you intend to complete the transaction in a timely fashion. Non-paying bidders will be duly reported to Ebay. PLEASE NOTE: I ALWAYS COMBINE SHIPPING CHARGES WVER POSSIBLE FOR MULTIPLE PURCHASES!
