Stunning Bronze Art Deco Lady Dancer by Ferdinand Preiss - 'The Moth Dancer' Stunning genuine hot cast bronze sculpture mounted on a solid marble base, please note there is a small chip to the marble - please see photos. This Art Deco style bronze stands 36cm high and depicts a lady dancer. The patina on this piece is exquisite and the attention to detail of the bronze is truly exceptional. Please see my many photos to see the chasing and crispness of the cast. The bronze base bears the signature 'MILO', however this is a reimagining of a piece originally created by Ferdinand Preiss and is entitled 'The Moth Dancer'. The bronze base is stamped with a foundry mark which has the following text - BRONZE GARANTI PARIS JB DEPOSEE. Fritz Ferdinand Preiss (German,1882 - 1943) Born in Erbach-Odenwald on 13th February 1882, he Studied in Paris and worked with Prof. Poertzel in Berlin. Preiss worked to a great extent with ivory and used the combination of ivory and bronze with magnificent results. His family were renowned ivory carvers and his skill, detailing and modelling in this medium was unsurpassed in the Art Deco era.
