If you have ever longed to travel back in time to the old west here is you're opportunity to do so. This is quite the spectacular Bronze Bison Group Sculpture; the work is absolutely that western choppy style of the great ones! This beautiful sculpture has the letters "RBW" inscribed into the bronze at the base, this could only mean "Roman Bronze Works" The sculpture is mounted onto a highly polished slab of Malachite Green Marble with old felt on the bottom. I suspect that this bronze could possibly be attributed to James Earl Frazer who was still working in the 1950's creating his sculptural recollections of the vanished pioneer world of the prairie. Looking through some of my books on bronzes I notice a few Frazier pieces several Bison's & Bison groups & the work appears to me to be quite the same. Anyway, since there is no artist signature on the sculpture, I can only suspect what I have noted above, neither here no there it is a great work of art, no matter what the age or who the artist is! This sculpture measures overall 16" long x 5 ?"wide & 6"high. The bronze measures 14" long x 3 ?"wide. This group is very substantial in weight & the work is very dimensional, looking at it for me actually has a calming affect, it always amazes me the way an artist can have a picture in his mind & actually create it to perfection.
