Imposing ormolu mantel clock mounted upon a finely cast bronze bull. The beautifully crafted animal carries the clock in the centre of his back. He stands on a rectangular ormolu platform. The bulls back is covered with an ormolu drape that has tassels decorating the ends. The clock is set in a foliate wreath and is surmounted by a figure of Eros with bow and arrow. The base, with Boulle mouldings, is edged with ormolu scrolls and to the centre is a decorative face mask. The 13 piece white porcelain dial is 6 inch (7cm) in diameter, and has blue Roman numerals and axe shaped steel hands. Having a 19th century eight day movement with rectangular plates and striking the hours and half hours on a bell. The good proportions of this rare piece make it desirable to any connoisseur of fine furnishing.
