This Explosion Proof Light Fixture is in very good shape....solid bronze even the electrical box I recently purchased it at an Estate sale.....I was told by the son of the deceased father that the light fixture had come off the USS Mississippi BB41, his father had worked for Bethlehem Steel Cop. back in the 1950's - 60's...before moving here to Connecticut. I looked up scrapped Battleships.....and read that the USS Mississippi was bought for scrap in 1956 by Bethlehem Steel Corp. It is missing the light socket...the gasket is still there...shown best in the last photo Has a good weight.....just about 7 1/2 pounds....still has the Battleship gray paint The following is information from Pauluhn who manufactured the light fixture. Because of their experience and long history, Pauluhn Electric is the most highly regarded manufacturer of these particular fixtures. Many companies have tried to develop similar products made of composites and other less expensive materials. Some of these are good for certain applications, but non of them have survived the test of time in a corrosive salt air marine environment like cast bronze.These
