Unique Asian Bronze Sculpture , tantric imagery Pre-1900?, two deities dancing in an embrace This is perhaps from Nepal - and has Tantric imagery but we are unsure as to who the Deities are, and when and w it was made. The male figure holds something in each hand, and the female figure holds a small bowl in her left hand and something else in the right hand. As to the age, we are unsure and are only guessing that it is pre 1900's. The sculpture has wonderful movement. It has a nice old patina and intricate detailing. The flash from the camera makes the color of the statue look lighter than it actually looks - the color is a darkish bronze-brown and not the lighter copper uneven color of most of the pictures. The one darker photo is more acurate as to the actual tone. It is nine and a half inches high and eight inches wide (if you include the base to the outstretched arm); six inches wide if you just measure the figures. It was purchased 30 years ago at an Estate sale of a Professor of Asian art who had recently passed away. His heirs were selling his collection of Indian and Asian art amassed through a lifetime of travels and collecting. Most of the items had been purchased in northern India during the 1950's. I have never seen a sculpture such as this one and we know little about this type of artwork. We are not dealers, but read more
