This a nice clean, miniature surface gage with the 1.55" x 2.15" steel base that has the black oxide type finish. It is marked "BROWN & SHARPE MFG. CO. PROVIDENCE R.I. LBS TRADE MARK". I have never seen one of these with this style fine adjustment. The fine adjustment is controlled by a thumb screw inside a cast boss on top of the base, a lever reaches into the side of the boss to the screw area, so by turning the screw an adjustment is made. Unique! And works great also! Nice little scriber, sharp on both ends. Beautifully made tiny pieces, thumb screws etc.. The scriber can be mounted as show in the picture or in the bottom link where the main stem is. The bottom of the base is clean and appears in great shape, it too has the black oxide finish. Overall about 98% mint condition! A great collectible machinist tool!
