You are bidding on...an EXQUISITE Early American Pattern Glass COVERED PEDESTAL COMPOTE...the Tall, Sp-shaped "Florida Palm" or "Tidal", by Bryce, Higbee c.1889. Big, beautiful and patterned top-to-bottom, this Antique Glass Gem stands VERY TALL at 11" to the top of the ornate finial, measures 8 1/8" wide, is 4" deep, and the base is 5" in diameter. It comes COMPLETE with its DOME-style COVER / LID...and the glass is SPARKLING CLEAR & SHINEY BRIGHT. It's in EXCELLENT CONDITION, no chips, cracks, very little wear, and all the rims are smooth...it's quite a HEFTY PIECE of 120 year-old glass. T are the usual old mould marks from the glassmaking process, like bubbles, straw marks, swirls/striations, and a touch of mould roughness from the mould removal process; all characteristics innt to antique glass, which give each and every piece their own personality! On the outer flange of the rim, t is an internal vein/strike in the glass, about 1/4". It may have been from the heating/cooling process, or perhaps occurred later from use, but it's hard to tell. It's not easily noticed, but I tried to capture it in the last picture. The PATTERN is WELL-DEFINED and DEEPLY PRESSED...with details galore on this spherical beauty...take a look at the chiseled band above the flanged rim...what fabulous detail! The finial is also very detailed, and its size provides a secure grip when lifting the domed cover from this hefty antique glass compote. An AWESOME PIECE of Early American Pattern Glass...and seldom seen COMPLETE with its DOME. Add it to your EAPG collection...or give as a gift! Shipping weight 8 lbs.
