For your consideration is a two gallon salt glaze crock made by Minnesota Stoneware Co. The embossed wring on the bottom says: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO. RED WING, this writing in legibility and distinctness is far above average. This company was located in Red Wing, Minnesota and existed from 1883-1906. The target design indicates it was manufactured during the early or middle 1890s; the salt glaze indicates it was manufactured no later than 1896. The interior is glazed with Albany slip. The target design and the 2 are hand drawn with a cobalt glaze, using the slip cup method. This crock has a height of slightly less than 9 1/2" and the bottom has a diameter of slightly more than 9". This crock has 0 cracks, however it does have two very shallow chips where the bottom meets the side. Also it has what appears to be a previous owner's repair on the inside of the rim.
