Thanks for looking, you are, we hope, pleasantly surprised at the appearance of this knife. We have no box so Mint doesn't apply. No box we don't call it mint. You bet the next words are "but look at it". The knife is a Buck 315 Yachtsmen sometimes referred too as a Marlin Spike with a Rope Cutting blade. The knife is 4 3/8" long. We gatd a few opinions from around the old potbelly stove and the general consensus is it was probably a salesmen's sample. That would sort of explain the extra bright polish and care taken when this beautiful knife was put in a draw for a few years. Also it might explain the tight blades. Opening the blade or spike is a little rough on the finger nail. The walk and talk are exceptionally strong. You can tell from across the room when someone closes the blade or spike, and of course no wobble what so ever. The scales are saw cut black phenolic resin we believe, with nickel silver pins and shield. The bolsters are also nickel silver and the spike release as well. The liners are brass. Salesmen went into production and picked out a particular "good looking" knife then keep it spotless for show. On the rope cutting blade the tang is the Only Mark on this knife, Buck over 315 over U.S.A. This knife goes from us to your show case, maybe a wipe off, but that's all. I'll stop now, the knife is old stock New, Done. read more
