A fellow ebayer told me recently that this was the rare and hard to find Chrysanthemum Swirl Butter Dish produced in 1890 by Buckeye or Flint Glass. I am not normally a collector of EAPG, so I really appreciated the information. It is the white crystal opalescent pattern with the matching symmetrical lid. On the OUTSIDE of the lid, the only thing to note is two tiny pin head size white dots and a tiny black pin head size dot, with one tiny tiny manufacturer bubble inside the knob itself. INSIDE the lid, (last photo) t is NO roughness noted along the rim with one tiny air bubble and tiny black dots near the center. INSIDE the base (second photo), NO ROUGHNESS is noted along the inner rim and it aslo has a few tiny pin head size black &white all typical findings in glass from this era. Just Beautiful!! As you can see in the photo of the underside of the base, the pattern swirl starts slightly off center, but when upright, it lines up perfectly with the lid. (many that I have seen listed over the years do not line up). This hard to find piece measures approximately 5 1/2 inches to the top of the knob and 6 inches at the widest part of the base! Take advantage of this low starting bid to add this gorgeous piece to your Early American Pattern Glass or Opalescent Glass Collection! Also a favorite for the Rare Butter Dish Collectors!!
