This is a BOSS with Eagles Barn Beam Drill Auger made by the Buckeye Mfg., Union City , IN Patented December 19, 1882 . These are rare to find and unique in that the carriage can be flipped over so you can mount two drills, one in each chuck. This one has the Eagles on the side castings which is more uncommon. It has been restored to excellent condition. Castings: T was essentially no japanning left but the metal was not pitted so all castings and fasteners were glass beaded, cleaned and coated with POR-15 w the japanning would have been. POR-15 duplicates original japanning beautifully with the added benefit of becoming more indestructible as it ages. At $30.00 a quart, it is worth it and I encourage you to check it out at their website, . The castings are excellent with only one tiny chip off one of the slide corners that is inconsequential and should show in the pictures. All gear teeth are intact and run smoothly. You will need to lubricate the drill prior to use. Wood: Both handles are excellent with one having a tight grain check which has been stabilized. The base shows no checks with normal use wear marks. All wood parts have been carefully cleaned and thoroughly coated with bees wax for protection. This is an uncommon beam drill that needs nothing to be ready to display or use. The drill will be partially disassembled for safer shipping. A $10.00 handling fee applies for this item but will be dropped for "Buy It Now". Local pick up is also available at 44256.
