Up for auction is a stone depiction of a standing 11-Headed Kannon Bosatsu, clearly dated to the sixth year of the Tenpo Era (1835), late-Edo Period.
A notably charming example of an important Kannon manifestation rarely seen in stone. Overall softening of the lines and contours with virtually no loss, excellent lichen accumulation, and irrefutable temporal provenance. Compared with Edo-Period Jizo stones, Edo-Period 11-Headed Kannon stones exist in a ratio of approximately 1:100. 11-Headed Kannon stones only rarely surface in the local market. An excellent opportunity, assuredly. Dimensions: Height: 35.8 cm (14.1 in) Width: 15.5 cm (6.1 in) Depth: 12.8 cm (5.0 in) Packaged weight: 10 kg (22 lb) Shipping information: Surface mail shipping and insurance for this piece will be US$65 for Europe, North America, and Oceania. SAL wait-list airmail shipping and insurance will be US$117 for Europe, North America, and Oceania.
