Buddy Holly - Ritchie Valens - J.P Richardson/The Big Bopper February 3rd, 1959 - 'The Day the Music Died' Original Autograph vintage page/cuts of all three Extremely RARE Obtained in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 23rd, 1959. Buddy Holly signed nicely in blue fountain ink pen, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper both signed nicely in pencil. Perfect gift and ready for framing! I obtained this piece thru an estate collection of a former music producer based in Los Angeles, California. Buddy Holly needed money. He was married with a child on the way, had broken up with his group, the Crickets, and had left his record company. Holly decided to participate in a tour deemed, "The Winter Dance Party, " with a revised version of the Crickets: Tommy Allsup, Carl Bunch, and Waylon Jennings. The other headliners were Ritchie Valens, J. P. Richardson ("The Big Bopper"), and Dion and the Belmonts. Their first show kicked off January 23rd., 1959 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (autographs were obtained at this show). They were scheduled to play throughout the Midwest from January to mid February... but Feb. 3rd, a tragic accident occured and later known as 'The Day the Music Died'.
