This Buffalo Pottery Christmas Plate is from 1958. It is ninth in their series of Dickens themed Christmas plates. The Buffalo China Company factory did not make these plates to sell to the general public, but rather they were gifts for the Buffalo China Company Employees. The 1958 plate features a scene by Rix Jennings from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol : a busy street with Christmas shoppers in the 1840s and the quote around the rim "The Poulterers' shops were still half open, and the Fruiterers' were radiant in their glory. The Grocers! oh the Grocers'!...everything was good to eat and in its Christmas dress..." The black drawing is on a white background with blue, yellow, pink and green in the drawing. The plate measures 9 3/4 inches across and is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or damage. T is a black mark 1/4 inch long under the glaze on the reverse side; see photo. I accept returns within one week of receipt; buyer is responsible for all postage costs.
