This listing is for a RARE Buffalo Pottery Emerald Deldare Ware shield-back candlestick or chamberstick measuring 6 3/4" high with a base diameter of 6 1/4". The decoration is a lovely Art Nouveau design emphasizing floral motifs in grey-blue, white and emerald green applied to the traditional olive body. T is a raised candle holder in the center of the base with a hand-hold for carrying applied to the back of the shield back. This fabulous example of Buffalo Pottery's Emerald Deldare Ware is illustrated as #193 on page 110 of The Book of Buffalo Pottery by Seymour & Violet Altman. It carries the Buffalo Pottery Emerald Deldare Ware stamp with the buffalo logo and the date of 1911. The illustration in the book is signed "M G" as is ours, signed at the bottom of the candle holder in the center of the base. The chamberstick is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. All examples of this scarce pottery are highly sought after and are considered as investment pottery as production of this line was very limited. This piece is a gorgeous example and would be a definite addition to any American Art Pottery collection.
