I found no cracks or breaks in the wood or metal but t is a very small chip in the middle on the edge of the groove making ridge. Tool is nicely marked with the Buffum name, address, and item number 1207. Tool was used to make grooves in freshly poured concrete to serve as weak spots so that cracks would form in straight lines as the concrete cured instead of making unsightly irregular shaped cracks and detracting from the appearance of sidewalks, driveways, etc.
