Vintage Sheet Music Wow! This auction is for AN EXTREMELY rare, one of a kind ORIGINAL music sheet that was penned by Robert McKimson (although it might have been someone on the Warner Brothers art staff). The sheet music cover is completely hand drawn – and is the original ink – NOT a reprint. You can see all the pencil outlines and ink corrections, so this was a working copy that was supposed to be later reproduced for the public. However, I am told it was never finalized or released. The music is titled What's Up Doc? and it has words and music by Carl W. Stalling which were based on the famous Leon Schlesinger Cartoon Character Bugs Bunny. I didn't realize that t was actually a theme song with lyrics to the Bugs Bunny cartoons, but Stalling apparently put this music together for the 1950 animated short. I think the lyrics weren't used when the show became more popular. The inside sheet inside has all the lyrics and musical notes for the song and it too says it is from Carl Stalling. I actually believe that the sheet music is a copy because they probably originally wrote it on separate sheets and this needed to be on one connected sheet. It is indeed a 1950 era copy and might even be hand inked – sure looks like it. It might have been hand copied from the original or something because I'm sure the working copy was filled with corrections and such. So, the cover is the ORIGINAL hand penned art and the inside is a copy of the working draft. This was never supposed to be given to the public, but it made it into the collection described below – along with several other VERY rare pieces. I actually think this was given to the below estate by Robert McKimson who was a friend. Chances are very good that it was drawn by him, but it is not signed. The book measures about 9½" x 12½" but the inside sheet is larger – it was a working draft that would have eventually been resized to all be the same size. This is GUARANTEED original and is just an incredible piece of Bugs Bunny and cartoon history! I have several hand autographed Mel Blanc and Bob McKimson items from this collection, and tons of correspondence from them sending memorabilia to the previous owner. Plus, you can really see the pen strokes on the art, especially on the heavy black What's Up Doc? lettering. Amazing piece – should really be in a museum! I am listing this at NO RESERVE and starting at 99 cents, but don't be fooled – this is a extremely rare original!

More about this collection: This piece comes from an enormous collection of cartoon memorabilia from the Wisconsin area. The original owner was a distributor for cartoons and such and is probably the largest collection of authentic memorabilia in the area. Some of the pieces in the collection are absolutely amazing and one of a kind. He was friends with many of the big names making cartoons and such in the 1960s-1980s. All items are guaranteed authentic and as described!
