A lovely sterling silver American MATCH SAFE with an embossed BULL DOG in his kennel, made by R Wallace and Sons, circa 1900. On the front t is a raised and embossed bulldog has an angry looking face, maybe because he is chained to his kennel! The back is plain. T is a double stiker on the bottom. The match safe is slightly concave in shape to fit snugly in your pocket. The inside retains its original gold wash. The match safe is marked on the inside rim with a deer symbol, R W & S and STERLING for the maker R Wallace & sons, and the numbers 870. The flip lid mechanism is working properly and the lid snaps shut tightly. The double striker is still sharp. The match safe is in good condition and t are no dings or dents or repairs. A lovely old sterling silver American novelty match safe made Circa 1900. Please see my other auctions for more good quality American, English and Irish sterling. Thanks for looking and please email any questions.
