Bulova was the Cheverolet of Swiss watches. They made a good looking, accurate, dependable timepiece. This was one of their premier watches. It houses a 21 jewel movement that is running and keeping time like the day it was made Circa 1945! Joseph Bulova started business in 1875 and since that time Bulova has always been a USA/Swiss operation with the movemnts being made in Switzerland at the Bulova factory and then cased and timed in America at the Woodside, N.Y. plant. By the 1940's complete watches started rolling off the assembly line here. By the 1950's half of production was domestic with the remaining watches being imported. Notice that the white gold filled case is accented by the striking black dial. However, I think that it is the style of the numerals that give it it's panache. They are very stylized Art Deco! The rectangle for the seconds bit, adds to the effect, and echoes the case shape which is reminiscent of the circle-in-the-square from an earlier era. One of the selling points for these watches, back in the day, was that they were extrememly well enginereed and there was a large supply of parts readily available. This is a boon for us today as well since there are still many parts extant and our watchmakers know that they can bring them up to factory standards using original parts. The white gold filled case measures 39MM lug to lug by 23MM wide and is in excellent condition. Take a look at the close-up photos and you will see what I mean. Once you strap this elegant timepiece on your wrist a personal connection will begin that will grow into it's own for years to come. You won't find a Bulova from the 1940's in better condition! Couple this with our famous one year parts and labor warranty and you can't go wrong.
