Up for auction is an absolutely stunning and very old Mr. Burlon Craig Rebecca Pitcher! This pitcher has a Very Commanding Presence and is one of the Finest Pieces I have Ever Seen from Mr. Craig. I have tried my best to capture its Beauty and Magnificent Craftmanship with my Digital Camera but you really Have to See this Pitcher to Appreciate its Wonder. This Pitcher Measures a Whopping 20" Tall and 35" Wide at its widest point. The Hand Formed Mouth and Handle are Exemplary. This Cultured Craftsmanship has an Incised Weave around the upper half and the Firing has Produced an almost 'Peacock Effect' Throughout the Glaze! This was the 'Centerpiece' of My Entire Collection, No Other Piece (including all of my Face Jugs) Came Close. The only flaw on the piece is a small chip approximately 7/8" long and 5/8" wide (at its widest point). I would estimate that it is approximately 1/2 thickness of a dime deep. I purchased it as described. Another Unique and Hard to Find Feature is the Signature which reads "B B Craig" in Mr. Craig's Own Handwriting. This Dates this Wonderful Pitcher to some of Mr. Craig's Earliest Signed Works. Before the 1970's little of Mr. Craig's Works were Signed. The Few Pieces that He Signed Before this Period were Signed using a Nail or Some Sharp Instrument. I have seen pieces signed 'Burlon B. Craig' or just 'B B Craig'. This is One of the Very Few I Have Seen. I purchased this piece approximately five years ago from an Avid Collector. He also described this Beautiful Pitcher as the 'Centerpiece' of His Collection. Whomever wins this auction will be Exceptionally Pleased and Proud to Own this Very Rare Piece! You will Definately Not be Sorry with this Purchase! Mr. Craig's Works seem to Ever Appreciate in Value. Mr. Craig is certainly One (if not) of the Greatest Folk Potters of Our Era. His Works Remain a Living Testament to All. Mr. Craig is Recongnized by the Smithsonian Institute and by the Majority of All Folk Pottery Collectors Across our Nation.
