BURTON JOYCE PARISH CLERK ST HELENS CHURCH real photograph early 1900's

This is an unusual and scarce early 1900's real photograph of Elijah Linley the Parish Clerk of St Helens Church in Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire. He was born in 1824 and was the Clerk for 68 years before his death in 1913, aged 89. He is buried in St Helen's Churchyard. A fascinating piece of local social history. The message on the reverse is very interesting because the Mrs Scott referred to is obviously closely related to the well known local photographer J.H.Scott who lived in the small village of Bulcote next door to Burton Joyce. This information is recorded on the reverse of the card 'BULCOTE SERIES JH Scott photo. Bulcote, Burton Joyce, Nr Nottingham'. This makes this a rare item with some historical significance, and despite its scruffiness, very collectable.
