Burton Silverman Framed Oil Painting Wonderful Burton Silverman professionally framed oil painting of a woman. The oil painting is on a wooden board and is framed with a gallery quality gold-leafed frame and linen matte. The piece (including the frame) measures 14 3/4" tall x 13 5/8" wide x 1 5/8" deep. The painted wooden board measures 8" tall x 7" wide. The painting depicts a woman with dark hair wearing a dark blazer and white shirt against a golden-mustard brown background. The painting is signed "Silverman 98" in the lower left hand corner of the piece. Burton Silverman is an accomplished artist that has done many shows and has his pieces are on display at many prominent galleries and museums. The frame and oil painting are in wonderful condition and are ready for display in your private art collection at a fraction of the gallery/auction prices for his works. His condensed biography is attached below: B U R T O N S I L V E R M A N Condensed Biography Mr. Silverman has had 31 solo shows in New York, Boston, Philadelphia Washington, D.C. and San Francisco He has appeared in numerous national and international exhibitions including the National Portrait Gallery, the National Academy Annuals, the Mexico City Museum of Art, the Royal Academy of Art in London and the Butler Midyear Annuals, He has won 37 major prizes and awards from such annual exhibitions and the National Academy Museum has honored him with 9 awards including the Ranger Purchase Awards in 1983 and 1965. His paintings are represented in nearly two dozen public collections including the Arkansas Art Institute, the Brooklyn Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the New Britain Museum, the Mint Museum, the Denver Art Museum, the National Museum of American Art, the Delaware Art Museum, the Columbus Museum and the National Portrait Gallery. His work is included in numerous private collections both in the U.S. and Europe. In 2006 A retrospective exhibit of the Intimate Eye; the Drawings of Burton Silverman opened at the Brigham Young Museum of art and traveled to the Butler institute of American Art and the Lyme Academy College of Art in 2007 February 2005 he was awarded the 7th Annual Excellence in the Arts Award from the Newington Cropsey Cultural Foundation . May and June of 2004 the Delaware Art Museum hosted the exhibition " Glorious Dignity : Drawings of the Montgomery Bus Boycott by Harvey Dinnerstein and Burton Silverman " and a sequential loan exhibit of these works has been shown in a 50th Anniversary Exhibition: Protest in Montgomery at the Montgomery Museum of Art in 2006. In May 2004 he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Portrait Society of America for lifetime achievement in figurative art in 1999 received the John Singer Sargent Medal from the American Society of Portrait Artists for a similar career of distinction. In 2002 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. In February of 1999 , the Butler Institute of American Art held a 25-year retrospective exhibition of his work titled Sight and Insight; the Art of Burton Silverman . The exhibit also traveled to the Brigham Young Museum in Utah (May, 1999.) A full monograph and catalog accompanied this exhibition In the Spring of 1995 he conducted a seminar at the National Academy entitled "The Realist Alternative" that probed the possible re-emergence of realism as a viable alternative to modernist art.
