This item likely came from the Vatican or Rome as a souvenir. The material is a high density cream colored composition which is cast and then hand finished. It is marked on the bottom as from the Mucchetti Company. The short veil and hair style as well as the base indicate it was made in the 1950s or 1960s. The initials GR are those of the sculptor of the original bust which is likely to have been done in terracotta. From this a mould would have been produced to make castings such as this example.
