Stories include: "BB Goes Shooting," "BB Plays David & Goliath" and "BB and the Donkey." What makes this Platinum Age comic a real find is artist R.F. Outcault's pointed criticism of then President Teddy Roosevelt: "Resolved! That I didn't get half as bad a dose as I should have got. Those who deliberately shoot an innocent and inoffensive creature are cowards and sinners. But the idea of a president going out armed with a gun and a camera and a press agent to shoot helpless and unarmed animals who would have voted for him if they had had a vote. They need his protection more than anyone else. Is it kind or just? Can a Great man destroy the works of his creator, and take a life which he can't replace? Just to get his picture in the papers for small boys to look at -- oh, well, I can't help it. But don't let us kill things boys -- not even time. Buster Brown." Condition of this item: The colors are wonderfully vibrant, but I've marked the overall condition as fair. The hardcover is frayed on the edges and has come unattached. The inside cover is stained. The inside cover page has browned. About 30 of the 35 pages are in good to very good condition. The remainder have various degrees of stains. Last page torn. The back hardcover is missing.
